TSOM: The Synergy of Music

The first project created for the Eritrean Diaspora Entertainment Network was a collaborative music album. It was slated to be released by the end of 2018 but was, eventually, cancelled. That’s not to say that there hasn’t been any amazing music made!

In the first single of the project, working closely with the producer, I unleash my inner thoughts while on an ‘ayahuasca trail’ and, poetically, share virtues learned along the way. From the perspective of the gritty streets of New York, of course!

Enough can’t be said about the vocals that a young Eritrean woman by the name of Belina laid on this Hade1Hade produced track, in which the legendary Sudanese singer Mohammed Wardi was sampled.

Inspired by TSOM…

With the spirit of EDEN’s TSOM in full swing, I was able to connect with Bay Area’s own CloudsAndSpaceships on a track that was to serve as a reference for an up and coming artist. The track, which is titled The Best Habesha Rapper sampled the most famous Eritrean singer of his time – the late, great Abraham Afwerki.

It is to be noted that – when it comes to hip hop music at least – I’m the best Eritrean writer. HANDS DOWN. Seriously, though, how did we turn this gwayla music into a naturally sounding hip hop tune? Abe?
